Scalar and Vector Quantities

Scalar Quantity

A quantity which is described with only magnitude or size is known as Scalar quantity. It is a one dimensional measurement of a quantity. For example: temperature, mass, speed etc.

Vector Quantity

A quantity which is described by both magnitude and direction is known as Vector quantity. Vector quantities are said to be important for the study of motion. For example: displacement, velocity etc.
