A cylinder is a basic solid geometric shape, which is formed by the points at a fixed distance from axis of the cylinder. It is a very basic and common shape which can be seen in day to day life. A cylinder has two ends called bases which are circular in shape.
Properties of Cylinder
- Both the ends or bases are flat.
- The cylinder is a symmetrical throughout its height.
- Cylinder has one curved side.
Surface Area of Cylinder
Surface area of circular ends = π × r² × 2
Surface area of side = 2 × π × r × h
So the surface area of cylinder will be,
S.A = 2 × π × r × (r + h)
Here, (r) is the radius of the base and (h) is the height of cyinder
Volume of Cylinder
Volume of sphere is given by the formula,
Volume = π × r² × h
