A cylinder is a basic solid geometric shape, which is formed by the points at a fixed distance from axis of the cylinder. It is a very basic and common shape which can be seen in day to day life. A cylinder has two ends called bases which are circular in shape.

## Properties of Cylinder

- Both the ends or bases are flat.
- The cylinder is a symmetrical throughout its height.
- Cylinder has one curved side.

## Surface Area of Cylinder

Surface area of circular ends = *π × r**² × 2*

Surface area of side = *2 × π × r × h*

So the surface area of cylinder will be,

*S.A =**2 × π
Ă— r Ă— (r + h)*

Here, **(r)** is the radius of the base and (**h) **is the
height of cyinder

## Volume of Cylinder

Volume of sphere is given by the formula,

*Volume = π × r**² ×
h*
